More About Cresson TX

As history has it, John Cresson, the cities namesake, visited this area with a wagon train prior to the Civil War. Years later, he returned to open a General Store which became a stagecoach hub with routes connecting Waco, Cleburne, Granbury and Stephenville. When the railroad came through the region, stagecoach lines became obsolete. In 1887, The Fort Worth and Rio Grande Railroad connected Cresson with Granbury. That same year, Cresson was granted a Post Office. Cressons population at this time was around 35. In 1896, Cressons population increased to an even 100 people.

The Cresson School displays an Historical Marker providing a brief insight into years past. In the late 1880s, land was deeded for school purposes. As in many rural communities, school programs began in a one room schoolhouse. Over the years, the school underwent several renovations. After Cresson consolidated with Granbury schools in the mid sixties, the Cresson School closed and a Historical Marker was erected in 1967.

MotorSport Ranch, built in 1996, is a Country Club for motorsport enthusiasts. Weather it be motorcycles race or sports cars, The Ranch allows members to explore the potential of their machines and allows drivers to develop and practice their skills. MotorSport Ranch has two road racing courses, a 1.7 mile and a 1.3 mile circuit. MotorSport Ranch offers its Members the opportunity to treat performance driving as a sport or hobby. This facility also includes Performance and Safety Driving Schools, Auto Storage, Maintenance and “Gentleman Racing”.

The majority of Residential Real Estate in and around Cresson is made up of large ranches and/or homes on small acreage. “Tres Vistas Estates” is an Upscale, Gated Community consisting of 153 acres, divided into 44 lots. Development includes a Stocked Lake, Park Like Community Areas and Abundant Wildlife.
