As history has it, John Cresson, the cities namesake, visited this area with a wagon train prior to the Civil War. The Cresson School displays an Historical Marker providing a brief insight into years past. In the late 1880s, land was deeded for school purposes. After Cresson consolidated with Granbury schools in the mid sixties, the Cresson School closed and a Historical Marker was erected in 1967.
